Charles Veilleux

Charles Veilleux

Charles Veilleux, of Quebec, was born on October 1, 1920. He enlisted in June 1940 and served as a Sapper with the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Engineers. While on duty in England in June 1942, he was injured in an accident and lost his left arm.

After the war, he returned home to Canada and worked as a Postmaster before joining The War Amps Quebec Branch in 1967. He has held the positions of:

  • National Director, Quebec Branch (1993, 2001-2021)
  • President, Quebec Branch
Charles Veilleux

Mr. Veilleux has devoted many years of service to the Association. He has adopted The War Amps motto “amputees helping amputees” by sharing his story with the child amputees and their families he has met at CHAMP seminars.

He is the recipient of the Honorary CHAMP Membership for his tireless work with The War Amps. Mr. Veilleux passed away on March 2, 2021.
