1915-2009

Chuck Daigneau

Charles (Chuck) Daigneau was born on February 27, 1915, and enlisted with the 1st Canadian Division, 3rd Brigade, Royal 22nd Regiment in October 1939. While fighting in the Italian Campaign in October 1943, he was hit by shrapnel from German artillery at Campobasso, which resulted in the loss of his left leg below the knee. He was discharged from service in March of the following year.

When Mr. Daigneau returned to Canada, he joined The War Amps Edmonton Branch and held several positions, including:

  • Branch Director, President and Secretary, Edmonton Branch
  • National Director, Edmonton Branch

He was awarded the Distinguished Service Membership from The War Amps.

Mr. Daigneau passed away on March 30, 2009.
