Hank LeBlanc

Henri (Hank) LeBlanc, of Quebec, was born on July 24, 1918, and enlisted with the 1st Field Company, Royal Canadian Regiment in April 1938. After completing training in Halifax and Petawawa, he was sent overseas in February 1940. He was attending a battle training course in England in April 1943 when a Bangalore torpedo explosive detonated prematurely, resulting in the loss of his arm.

Mr. LeBlanc returned to Canada and joined The War Amps Montreal Branch, holding the positions of:

  • President, Montreal Branch (1952, 1981)
  • Treasurer and Secretary-Treasurer, Montreal Branch (1985-1993)
  • Head of The War Amps Quebec Operations (1982)

He oversaw the Association’s Quebec Operations when it opened in 1982 and was known for taking part in many public awareness presentations about The War Amps.

Mr. LeBlanc passed away on September 8, 2004.
