Laurie Rasberry

Laurence (Laurie) Rasberry was born on July 13, 1921, in Quebec and enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in July 1940 as a Wireless Mechanic. He was posted to Alaska in 1941, England, France, Belgium and Holland in 1944, and Germany in 1945. In April 1945, while in Germany, he was riding in a truck when it hit a mine, resulting in the loss of his left leg below the knee.

Upon his return to Canada, Mr. Rasberry joined The War Amps Montreal Branch and served as:

  • National Director, Montreal Branch (1993-1997, 2003)
  • Member, War Amps National Board of Directors
  • President, War Amps National Council
Laurie Rasberry

He was known for his dedication to The War Amps causes, and he contributed to many of its successes. He was awarded the Honorary CHAMP Membership by the Association. Mr. Rasberry passed away on August 29, 2006.
