War Amps Offers Assistance to Christine Caron
July 24, 2013 - The War Amps is offering assistance to an Ottawa woman who lost three limbs due to an infection caused by a dog bite, as part of its ongoing commitment to assist the amputee community in Canada.
“With 95 years of experience in providing support to Canadian amputees, we recognize and understand the unique challenges Ms Caron faces as she adjusts to life as an amputee,” said Karen Valley, Director of The War Amps National Amputee Centre.
“We have a wealth of information regarding amputation, artificial limbs and related topics, and also provide financial assistance towards the cost of artificial limbs,” she said. “Just as importantly, we can provide the reassurance through both support and tangible examples that it is completely possible to live a full and positive life with multiple amputations.”
The War Amps was founded in 1918 with a philosophy of ‘amputees helping amputees,’ and continues this legacy in the modern-day association that exists today. A nation-wide registered charitable organization, it assists war amputees, and all Canadian amputees, including children.
