War Amps Address Label Mailing Recognizes Public Support

October 17, 2022 - The War Amps 2022 address labels are being mailed to households across the country starting this week, as a tribute to the public for their support of the organization. Daphnée Demers was born a left hand amputee and is a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program. In a letter accompanying the address labels, she writes about how the CHAMP Program has not only provided financial assistance for her artificial limbs but has given her hope to accomplish her biggest dream: to become a doctor.

“A few years ago, CHAMP connected me with Vanessa, a young woman who was also born with an amputation like mine and grew up through CHAMP,” wrote Daphnée. “Vanessa is a doctor at a hospital. She shared several tips with me and told me about the type of prosthetic arm she uses to do her work. After meeting Vanessa, I felt optimistic and encouraged. Seeing her success gave me the confidence to pursue my dream, and I am now studying medicine at university.”

Sent as a thank you to supporters of The War Amps Key Tag Service, the personalized peel and stick winter-themed address labels are not just for envelopes! They can be used to identify items like books, and for filling out name and address information on forms.

“I would like War Amps donors to know that you have a huge impact on young amputees – not only today, but throughout our lives. CHAMP is so much more than just artificial limbs. Being a part of the “CHAMP family” has been a priceless gift, providing me with positive role models and the encouragement to believe in myself. I know that this solid foundation of support will help me throughout my entire life, and it would not be possible without your generosity.

The War Amps receives no government grants. Its programs are made possible through public support of the Key Tag and Address Label Service. For more information, or to order address labels, visit waramps.ca or call toll-free 1 800 250-3030.
