“Growing up with an amputation, I felt like I didn’t fit in with my peers and I sometimes struggled with not looking the same as other kids.
“I had never met anyone else who was an amputee until my first CHAMP Seminar. There, I met older Champs that I could look up to and who showed me that my amputation didn’t have to limit what I could do. They helped to teach me all about life as an amputee, including taking care of my artificial leg, doing things independently and how to speak confidently about my amputation.
“I would not be the person I am today without the support of War Amps donors. My artificial legs are expensive and are not fully covered by provincial or private insurance. The War Amps covers the remaining cost, so I can have the limbs I need to play hockey, go kayaking and so much more.”
